Pensacola, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the Pensacola area's private sector employment added 6,400 jobs increasing by 4.0 percent over the year in January 2023. In January 2023, the Pensacola metro area had the fastest over-the-year job growth rate compared to all the metro areas in the state in financial activities, at 7.5 percent. The Pensacola area unemployment rate dropped to 2.6 percent over the year in January 2023, down 1.2 percentage points from 3.8 percent reported in January 2022.
